Whether you’re trying to attract a sparkly vampire or attempting to ward off his painful nibble, Demitasse’s newest installment in their Metropolitan Collection has plenty of Vampire-inspired pieces to keep you stocked for the winter. I’m guessing that’s when Vampires are pretty active. Halloween and stuff?
The newest addition to the cheeky Metropolitan Collection is full of must-haves, even for someone like me who isn’t exactly a fan of the Twilight/Vampire Diaries craze. I guess having grown up with Buffy the Vampire Slayer and secretly wanting to be Sarah Michelle Geller, I can’t quite seem to grasp the concept of Vampires that glitter. The idea of Movember is simple: raise awareness of men’s health issues during the month of November by using one of the most macho of all symbols, the moustache, sort of like the pink ribbon during October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness month for the ladies.
The moustache has particular resonance because macho is just one of the reasons men don’t go to the doctor - studies find men who identify as traditionally masculine are 50% less likely to go the doctor than other men, who aren’t very likely to go to the doctor to begin with.

Los Angeles based designer Rachael White established her fine jewelry line, Demitasse, in 2006. French for half-cup and an emblem of privilege, Demitasse reinvents the opulence of antique tableware and serving pieces into fine jewelry of gold, diamonds and sapphires. In early 2000, while sitting in a doctor’s waiting room, Rachael stumbled upon an article about antique silverware that sparked her interest. After months of researching flatware she became convinced people had forgotten what it meant to entertain at home and that food is a luxury that should be cherished as it once was.
“There was a time when the utensil one ate with or the utensil one served with was just as important as what they ate. In those times, people had the same reverence for silverware that we have today for jewelry—a working-class family would save for years to buy an actual silver spoon feed their children or collect. I wanted to bring back the type of intricate metalwork rarely seen anymore. What better way to do it than with a collection inspired by tableware itself?”
Rachael soon wanted to combine the passion today’s women have for jewelry with the same passion women once had for flatware and serving pieces by creating her own newly fabricated jewelry line, Demitasse. Demitasse creates a comfortable environment in which passions for food, flatware, and jewelry can come alive and be appreciated for their true beauty and pay homage to the past that strived on everything but fad diets and a spork.
